In 2005 The Golden Phoenix Foundation Orphan Medical Care Project joined with The International Adoption Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children www.adoptionclinic.org and Honduras Outreach Medical Brigada Relief Effort (HOMBRE), a student run medical organization at Virginia Commonwealth University, in the providing of health care clinics to orphanages and rural villages in developing countries. In June of 2012 the team will return Honduras for their 9th annual visit.
In 2008 The Golden Phoenix Foundation joined with Dr. Pat Mason, GPF Medical Director, in the creation of the Honduras Water Project, looking to bring clean, filtered water to the residents of La Hicaca, Honduras. The initial phase installed filters in 25 homes; this June Dr. Mason will return to La Hicaca to install filters in the remaining homes.
The ultimate goal of The Golden Phoenix Foundation is to create an alternative home for children who have been left behind in the orphanage system. The Lilly House Project will provide a beautiful, safe, loving, and stimulating environment to support these children in realizing and developing their potential. GPF is currently working to make this dream a reality.
